The World's Most Lavish Deserted Structures
12. Poland's Lapalice Castle
Lapalice Castle, Poland Location: Lipalice, Poland
Year Established: 1979
Cost: Not Specified
Lapalice Castle, despite its appearance and name, is not an ancient Polish castle. Constructed in 1979, this eerie-looking structure was initially intended to be the workshop of Polish artist Piotr Kazimierczak. Kazimierczak envisioned Lapalice as a magnificent manor, complete with a grand ballroom, twelve towers, a swimming pool, and impressive ramparts. However, the castle's ambitious design and purpose have led to a unique and somewhat haunting presence in the landscape.

Unfortunately, Piotr Kazimierczak ran out of funds and lacked the necessary authorizations to complete Lapalice Castle. As a result, he was forced to abandon the project, leaving the ruins in their current state. Despite the castle's precarious condition and the risk of collapse, adventurers continue to enter through its brick entrance gates, drawn by the allure of exploration and the remnants of its once-ambitious design.
