The World's Most Lavish Deserted Structures

6. China's Tianducheng

Location: China's Hangzhou 2007 is the year Price: $30 billion Tianducheng, a ghost town in Hangzhou, China, was created to resemble a scaled-down version of Paris. It was sometimes referred to as Sky City, and its main attraction was a 354-foot-tall model of the well-known Eiffel Tower. Other elements of Parisian architecture, such as landscaping and fountains, can also be seen in Tianducheng.

Unfortunately, barely 2,000 people attended, prompting the media to refer to Tianducheng as a "ghost town." Tianducheng had recovered by 2017, and the formerly abandoned town now has 30,000 or more residents. However, the $30 billion district has not fulfilled the expectations of the Chinese government.
