The World's Most Lavish Deserted Structures
6. China's Tianducheng
Tianducheng, Hangzhou, China Location: Hangzhou, China
Year Established: 2007
Cost: $30 billion
Tianducheng, often dubbed a ghost town, was designed to replicate a scaled-down version of Paris. Known as Sky City, its main feature is a 354-foot-tall replica of the iconic Eiffel Tower. The development also includes various elements of Parisian architecture, complete with landscaped gardens and fountains, aiming to evoke the charm of the French capital.

When Tianducheng first opened in 2007, it was designed to accommodate 10,000 residents. However, only about 2,000 people moved in, leading the media to label it a "ghost town." By 2017, Tianducheng experienced a resurgence, with the population growing to over 30,000. Despite this recovery, the $30 billion development has not met the expectations of the Chinese government.
